Ricardo Pereira nasceu em Braga e iniciou os seus estudos musicais com o seu pai, António Pereira. Tem desenvolvido uma carreira como trombonista e pedagogo, destacando-se a nível nacional e internacional. Os seus estudos formais começaram no Conservatório de Música Calouste Gulbenkian de Braga, onde foi orientado por Zeferino Pinto. Formou-se em 2006 com a classificação máxima, conquistando o Prémio de Mérito Artístico. Continuou a sua formação na Escola Superior de Música, Artes e Espetáculo do Porto, sob a orientação de Severo Martinez, concluindo a Licenciatura em Música em 2009, também com distinção máxima.
Ricardo prosseguiu a sua formação académica com um Mestrado em Ensino de Música na Universidade do Minho (2011-2013) e, em 2020, obteve o Título de Especialista em Música pelo Instituto Politécnico de Lisboa. Atualmente, encontra-se a realizar o doutoramento em Educação Artística na Faculdade de Belas Artes do Porto, aprofundando o seu conhecimento pedagógico e artístico.
Ao longo da sua carreira, Ricardo teve o privilégio de estudar com diversos mestres e solistas internacionais, como Jacques Mauger, Jon Etterbeek, Petur Eiriksson, Gyorgy Gyivicsan, Vincenzo Paratore, Stefan Schulz, Otmar Gaiswinkler, Andrea Conti, Charles Vernon, Mark Hampson, Andreas Klein, Achilles Liarmakopoulos, Jesper Busk Sørensen, Toby Oft, Bart Claessens e Massimo La Rosa, entre outros, enriquecendo a sua abordagem musical. Ao longo do seu percurso artístico, foi reconhecido com vários prémios, incluindo: o 1.º Prémio no “16.º Chieri International Competition 2016”, no “Prémio dos Jovens Músicos” (RDP-RTP 2013), no “2.º Concurso Nacional Terras de La Salette” 2009 e o 2º Prémio no “IX Concurso Internacional de Composição Festival SBALZ” 2022, além de outros reconhecimentos.
Desde 2014, Ricardo é trombone solista no Remix Ensemble Casa da Música, tendo anteriormente desempenhado o mesmo papel na Orquestra do Norte. Colaborou ainda com orquestras de renome como a Orquestra Sinfónica do Porto Casa da Música, Orquestra Gulbenkian, Orquestra Sinfónica da Galiza, Klangforum Wien, entre outras. Também fez parte de ensembles internacionais e academias de orquestra como a European Union Wind Orchestra, Orquesta Joven de la Sinfónica de Galicia, International Mahler Orchestra, The World Orchestra e Lucerne Festival Academy, realizando concertos em toda a Europa.
Como solista, apresentou-se com prestigiadas formações, incluindo a Orquestra Gulbenkian, Chieri Sinfonietta Orchestra (Itália), Banda Sinfónica Portuguesa e a Orquestra da Escola Profissional de Música de Viana do Castelo No campo pedagógico, leciona trombone na Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa, contribuindo para a formação de novos músicos. Ricardo é regularmente convidado para ministrar workshops, masterclasses, conferências, e participar como júri em competições de prestígio.

Ricardo Pereira was born in Braga and began his musical studies with his father, António Pereira. He has developed a career as a trombonist and pedagogue, standing out both nationally and internationally. His formal studies began at the Calouste Gulbenkian Conservatory of Music in Braga, where he studied under Zeferino Pinto. He graduated in 2006 with the highest marks, earning the Artistic Merit Award. He continued his education at the School of Music and Performing Arts (ESMAE) in Porto, studying under Severo Martinez, and completed his Bachelor’s degree in Music in 2009, also with top distinction.
Ricardo further pursued his academic path with a Master's degree in Music Education at the University of Minho (2011–2013) and, in 2020, earned the title of Specialist in Music from the Polytechnic Institute of Lisbon. Currently, he is undertaking a PhD in Artistic Education at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Porto, furthering his pedagogical and artistic expertise.
Throughout his career, Ricardo had the privilege of studying with many distinguished international teachers and soloists, including Jacques Mauger, Jon Etterbeek, Petur Eiriksson, Gyorgy Gyivicsan, Vincenzo Paratore, Stefan Schulz, Otmar Gaiswinkler, Andrea Conti, Charles Vernon, Mark Hampson, Andreas Klein, Achilles Liarmakopoulos, Jesper Busk Sørensen, Toby Oft, Bart Claessens, and Massimo La Rosa, among others, enriching his musical approach. Over the course of his artistic journey, he has been recognized with numerous awards, including First Prize at the “16th Chieri International Competition 2016,” the “Young Musicians Award” (RDP-RTP 2013), First Prize at the “2nd Terras de La Salette National Competition 2009,” and Second Prize at the “IX SBALZ International Composition Competition 2022,” among other achievements.
Since 2014, Ricardo has served as principal trombonist with the Remix Ensemble Casa da Música. Previously, he held the same position with the Orquestra do Norte. He has also collaborated with renowned orchestras such as the Porto Symphony Orchestra Casa da Música, the Gulbenkian Orchestra, the Galician Symphony Orchestra, Klangforum Wien, among others. In addition, he has participated in international ensembles and orchestral academies, including the European Union Wind Orchestra, the Orquesta Joven de la Sinfónica de Galicia, the International Mahler Orchestra, The World Orchestra, and the Lucerne Festival Academy, performing concerts across Europe.
As a soloist, Ricardo has performed with prestigious ensembles, including the Gulbenkian Orchestra, the Chieri Sinfonietta Orchestra (Italy), the Portuguese Symphonic Band, and the Professional Music School of Viana do Castelo Orchestra. In the field of education, he teaches trombone at the Lisbon School of Music, contributing to the mentoring of the next generation of musicians. He is regularly invited to lead workshops, masterclasses, and seminars, as well as to participate as a jury member in renowned competitions.
